How to choose a regulator

An unregulated PCP shoots a power curve. Velocity climbs for a few shots, peaks, then falls off as the bottle empties, which leaves you maybe a dozen usable shots per fill. A regulator steps bottle pressure down to a fixed plenum pressure so every shot gets the same push. That's the real difference between a regulated and an unregulated gun.

Fitment is where people get burned. These kits are cut for one platform, so a Challenger kit won't drop into a Terminator, and the rifle's working pressure has to match as well. A 4500 PSI gun and a 7000 PSI gun want different hardware, and your fill source has to reach whatever the kit expects.

Internal kits live inside the tube and disappear once they're set. External kits sit on the bottle, cost you a little height and weight, and let you change pressure without stripping the gun. Whichever you fit, set the regulator first and only then touch the hammer spring, because power adjustment done the other way around just chases itself.
