How to choose a PCP air rifle

Caliber is the first call. .22 (5.5mm) is the all-rounder, with a flat trajectory, cheap ammunition and enough energy for pests and paper inside 75 yards. .25 (6.35mm) trades a little of that trajectory for noticeably more authority on raccoon-class pests. .30 (7.62mm) hits hardest and reaches furthest, though it's louder and the ammo costs more.

Then there's the air bottle, which comes down to how you shoot. A 220cc rifle stays light and quick in a barn or a truck, while a 500cc bottle gets you far more shots between fills on a long bench session. The regulator does the rest, feeding every shot the same pressure so your point of impact doesn't wander from the first magazine to the last.
