How to choose diabolo pellets

Diabolos are the accuracy default for anything inside about 50 yards. The wasp-waisted, skirt-stabilized shape flies true at moderate velocities, costs less per shot than slugs, and is what most rifles are tuned around from the factory.

Shape first: domed heads are the all-purpose pick for accuracy and pest work — save wadcutters for paper at close range. Then weight: heavier pellets resist wind and hit harder but drop more; lighter ones fly flatter on modest tunes. Keep your muzzle velocity under roughly 950 fps with the pellet you choose, or accuracy falls apart as the skirt destabilizes.

Finally, barrels have favorites. Two tins of the same caliber from different makers can group very differently — test a few, then buy deep on the winner.
