How to choose diabolo pellets

Inside about 50 yards the diabolo is still the accuracy default. That wasp-waisted, skirt-stabilized shape flies true at moderate velocity, costs less per shot than a slug, and is what most rifles came tuned around from the factory.

Start with shape. Domed heads handle almost everything, and wadcutters are best saved for paper at close range. Weight comes next. Heavier pellets resist wind and hit harder but drop more, while lighter ones fly flatter on a modest tune. Keep muzzle velocity under roughly 950 fps whichever you pick, or the skirt destabilizes and accuracy falls apart.

Barrels have favorites, too. Two tins of the same caliber from different makers can group very differently, which is why it's worth testing a few before you buy deep on whichever one wins. A tin is cheap next to a wasted afternoon.
