Caliber decides what you shoot; the body decides how long. .22 is the cheapest to feed and the easiest to shoot well at 25–50 yd. .25 is the all-round choice. .30 carries the most energy. .22, .25 and .30 are available on all three bodies; .357 is exclusive to the 28" long-range body and is single shot.

Barrel length, bottle size and mass. The compact runs an 18" barrel with a 220 cc bottle at 7.6–7.8 lb; the all-rounder is 24" / 300 cc / 8.3–8.5 lb; the long-range body is 28" / 500 cc / 9.6–9.9 lb. Receiver and magazines are shared.

Fully shrouded barrel. It is not silent, but it is quiet enough for most yards on the standard tune.

There are two threads at the muzzle end, and only one of them is the one you want.

The one you use — the shroud thread. The front of the shroud is closed off by an end cap. Unscrew that cap and the thread underneath is what a moderator or other muzzle accessory screws onto. It is 1/2 UNF x 20 male on .177, .22 and .25, and M18 x 1 male on .30 and .357.

The other one — the barrel thread. The barrel muzzle is 1/2 UNF x 20 male on every caliber, but it sits inside the shroud and you will not reach it in normal use. It is identical on every barrel kit, which is why the shroud and end cap carry over when you change caliber.

If you are on .30 or .357 and your moderator is 1/2 UNF x 20, you will need an M18 x 1 to 1/2 UNF x 20 adapter.

A source that reaches 310 bar / 4,500 psi and a Foster quick-connect. That means a hand pump, a scuba or carbon tank, or a compressor. The fill probe is in the box.

A pump is cheapest and fine for a 220 cc bottle. A tank is convenient if you have somewhere to refill it. A compressor costs the most up front and is the least work over a year.

It is adjustable between 70 and 200 bar, and the hammer spring adjuster is marked so a change can be recorded and reversed.

Just store it slightly above the regulator's set pressure (e.g., if your reg is 130 bar, keep it around 140–150 bar), which keeps the seals seated and prevents leaks. Never store it completely empty
