How to choose a magnifier

A magnifier turns your red dot into a two-range sight: dot alone for speed up close, 3x behind it for identification and precision past 50 yards. The flip-to-side mount means switching takes half a second and nothing needs re-zeroing.

Two specs decide whether it will work with your dot. Optical height must match the red dot's centerline — same-height mounts or the view clips. And your dot should be 2–3 MOA: magnification blows a 6 MOA dot up to an imprecise blob.

Check eye relief last. Around 2.5–3 inches keeps the picture comfortable across different stocks and cheek welds, and a quick-detach base lets you drop the magnifier entirely on days you only shoot close.
